If staying in Zion National Park Lodge, or one of the historic cabins, is on your bucket list, make sure to make plans as far in advance as possible.

Zion National Park Cabin
Reservations open one year in advance and usually go very quickly. We were able to reserve one night’s stay in one of the historic cabins.
Zion National Park Lodge
The cabins are located a short distance from the lodge, and in the morning and evenings, if you walk to the lodge, you will be mostly ignored by the many deer feeding on the grass.

Zion National Park
Spring through fall the deer visit the area daily. They are the most common wildlife spotted in the park.

Zion National Park Lodge
The original Zion National Park Lodge was built in 1925, with the cabins following closely behind. The original lodge burned down in 1966 and was rebuilt the same year.

Zion National Park Lodge
The huge Cottonwood gracing the green space in front of Zion National Park Lodge is considered a National Landmark in its own right. The park rangers believe it may be nearing the end of its lifespan. They have taken cuttings of the original tree so that several more can be planted when the original tree’s lifespan comes to an end.
If you are able to stay in the park, I highly recommend it. Although, you cannot drive along Zion Canyon Scenic Drive during peak season, staying here allows you to very easily hop on and off the free shuttles that will deliver you to the most popular areas of the park.
Things to Know Before You Go:
- Reservations can be made up to a year in advance. If the dates you want are sold out, check back frequently, as cancellations do occur. That is how we were able to stay in the park, I grabbed a cancellation.
- There are 76 hotel rooms, 6 suites, and 15 historic cabins.
- The lodge has two dining options, and they are the only food options located within the park.
- The current entrance fee, for the park, for U.S. residents is $35/car. The pass is valid for 7 days. Entrance to the park is also included in the America the Beautiful pass. Current prices can be found here.
- The park is open 24/7 365 days a year.
- During the peak season, driving is not allowed along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. You must take a shuttle, which is free. You can find shuttle information here.
- You may drive the Zion Park Scenic Byway during peak season.
We only stayed in the cabin for one night, as we needed to continue our journey towards California. Our next stop was The Valley of Fire State Park, on our way to Las Vegas. As always, wishing you happy travels and fantastic adventures in this thing called life.
